OAU Post-UTME 2026/2027: Cut-Off of 200, Dates and How the Screening Worked

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife remains one of the most competitive universities in Nigeria. For the 2026/2027 admission session, OAU again set one of the highest Post-UTME entry requirements in the country.

Why OAU’s cut-off is higher than JAMB’s

JAMB set 150 as the minimum score for all universities in 2026. That is only the floor. Universities are free to set higher marks based on demand. OAU receives far more applicants than it can admit, so it sets 200 as the entry point for screening. Departmental cut-off marks for courses like Medicine, Law, Pharmacy and Engineering end up much higher.

How OAU screening usually works

OAU’s screening has traditionally combined:

  • Your UTME score.
  • Your Post-UTME test score (a computer-based test in recent years).
  • Your O’Level grades in the five relevant subjects.

These are combined into an aggregate, and admission is offered by merit, catchment and other approved criteria. Our guide on how aggregate scores are calculated explains the common methods.

What to do now if you wrote the OAU Post-UTME

  1. Check your screening result on the OAU admission portal.
  2. Monitor JAMB CAPS regularly. OAU uploads admissions to CAPS, and you must accept the offer there. See how to accept admission on JAMB CAPS.
  3. Make sure your O’Level result is uploaded on the JAMB portal. Missing O’Level uploads are a common reason for delayed admission.
  4. Prepare for acceptance fees and clearance as soon as you see an offer.

Didn’t make the cut?

You still have options this year: late screening at other universities, private universities (deadline 30 November 2026), polytechnics and colleges of education. Read what to do if you miss university admission.

Frequently asked questions

Is OAU’s cut-off 200 for all courses?

200 was the minimum to apply. Each department’s final admission cut-off was higher.

Can I change to OAU after the UTME?

OAU typically screens only candidates who chose it in the UTME. Changes made later are handled according to JAMB’s change of institution rules.
