Seeing your name on a university admission list is exciting, but it is not the final step. Every admission in Nigeria must be processed through JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), and you must accept the offer yourself. If you don’t, the offer can lapse.
For the 2026/2027 session, JAMB gave admitted candidates four weeks to accept their offers. If you fail to act within that time, the offer may be withdrawn or given to someone else.
Step 1: Log in to the JAMB e-Facility portal
- Go to the JAMB e-Facility portal.
- Log in with the email and password you created during registration. Use “Forgot password” if needed.
Step 2: Open CAPS
- On your dashboard, click “Check Admission Status”.
- Select your exam year and enter your registration number, then click “Access my CAPS”.
Step 3: Check your admission status
Click “Admission Status” on the CAPS menu. You will see one of these messages:
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not admitted yet / Admission in progress | Your school has not offered you admission yet, or is still processing. Keep checking. |
| Congratulations, you have been offered admission | You have an offer. Accept or reject it. |
| Recommended for another course | You are being offered a different course from the one you applied for. |
Step 4: Accept or reject the offer
- Read the course and institution details carefully.
- Click “Accept Admission” if you want it. Click “Reject” only if you are sure.
- Confirm your choice.
Once accepted, the offer is locked in. You can then print your JAMB admission letter.
Step 5: Print your JAMB admission letter
From the e-Facility dashboard, choose “Print Admission Letter”, pay the service fee, and print. You will need this letter for clearance at your university.
Common CAPS problems and fixes
- O’Level not uploaded: Many candidates aren’t admitted because their O’Level result isn’t on the JAMB portal. Visit an accredited CBT centre to upload it.
- Admission offered for a course you didn’t apply for: This is common when your score is below your course cut-off. Decide quickly, because places are limited.
- Status hasn’t changed for weeks: Contact your university’s admissions office. Some schools upload admissions in batches.
Frequently asked questions
Is my name on the school list enough?
No. You must also accept on CAPS. Universities rely on CAPS acceptance for registration.
Can I reverse a rejected admission?
Not easily. Rejection frees your space for another candidate. Only reject if you are certain.
Does CAPS acceptance cost money?
Accepting on CAPS is free. Printing the admission letter attracts a service fee.
