Public universities have until Saturday, 31 October 2026 to finish admissions for the current session. The deadline was set at JAMB’s 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions in Abuja, where vice-chancellors, rectors and other stakeholders approved a single national admissions timetable.
After the deadline, JAMB says institutions will no longer have candidates on their CAPS platform. In practice, admissions not processed on CAPS by then can’t go through for public universities.
Your checklist for the final week
- Log in to CAPS every day on the JAMB e-Facility portal. Look at your Admission Status. See how to accept admission on CAPS.
- Accept quickly if you’ve been offered admission. Don’t wait for the last day.
- Check your O’Level is uploaded. Missing results are a common reason qualified candidates aren’t admitted. See how to upload O’Level results.
- Respond to alternative offers. If you’re offered a different course, decide quickly whether to accept it.
- Fix mismatched records now. See JAMB’s NIN alignment service.
- Pay acceptance fees only through official school portals. See acceptance fees explained.
If you aren’t admitted by 31 October
It isn’t the end. Many polytechnics and colleges of education, and some private universities, follow different timelines. You can also prepare for the 2027 UTME, which the government has proposed for March 2027. See the proposed 2027 exam timetable and your options if you missed admission.
