Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA) has suspended admission into its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme for the 2026/2027 session. According to reports of the university’s announcement in early July 2026, the programme “will not be available for the 2026/2027 admission cycle.” No reason was given in the reports we reviewed.
Who is affected?
Candidates who chose Medicine and Surgery at FULOKOJA in the 2026 UTME. Other FULOKOJA programmes are not affected by this announcement.
Your options
- Accept a related course at FULOKOJA. If your aggregate qualifies, the university may offer you a related course such as a basic medical or life science. Check JAMB CAPS for any offer.
- Change institution for Medicine. If JAMB’s change of institution window is open, you could move to another university still admitting Medicine. Remember that Medicine cut-offs are very high: UNILAG’s 2026/2027 merit cut-off was 83.425 and UI’s was 80.00.
- Choose a related health course. Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Radiography and Pharmacy are alternatives, but most are also competitive. See our nursing cut-off guide.
- Rewrite the UTME in 2027. If Medicine is your firm goal, you may prefer to prepare for the 2027 UTME and choose a school with MBBS available.
Things to check before deciding
- Your UTME subject combination (English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics) fits most health courses, so switching within health sciences is usually possible.
- Whether the alternative school’s Post-UTME is still open. See screenings still open.
- Your expected aggregate, using our aggregate calculator.
