How to Check Your WAEC Result Online (2026 Update)

Checking your WAEC result is straightforward once you have your details ready. In 2026, WAEC introduced a NIN-based system for generating result-checker PINs, so the process is slightly different from previous years.

What you need

  • Your 10-digit WAEC examination number (centre number plus your candidate number).
  • The examination year.
  • The examination type: School Candidates (May/June) or Private Candidates (GCE).
  • A valid result-checker PIN and serial number.

Step 1: Get your result-checker PIN

For the 2026 WASSCE, WAEC said candidates generate result-checker PINs online through its digital certificate platform using their National Identification Number (NIN), with five free attempts. For other exams, you can buy a WAEC result checker from WAEC offices or approved vendors.

Step 2: Check the result on the WAEC portal

  1. Visit the official WAEC result checking website (waecdirect.org).
  2. Enter your 10-digit examination number.
  3. Select the examination year and type.
  4. Enter the card serial number and PIN.
  5. Click Submit to view your result.
  6. Print or save the result page.

Common errors and fixes

  • “Invalid PIN”: Check for typing errors, and make sure the PIN matches the exam type.
  • “Result not available”: Your result may be pending or withheld. Contact your school or WAEC office.
  • PIN usage exceeded: Each PIN can only be used a limited number of times. Buy a new one if needed.

Uploading your result to JAMB

Universities can’t admit you until your O’Level result is on the JAMB portal. Visit an accredited CBT centre to upload it as soon as your result is out.
